That helmet sure was tight
keeping my brains toasty under cap and ricochet-protection
I launched into the flow of a pre-Thanksgiving day
thankful for sparse traffic
Not so bitter the darkness of dawn
still a considerate Tuesday morn
Nose running, feet pedaling and
heart pounding over Roebling's bridge to
Toil and struggle with small measure of success, my paycheck
I especially like the second stanza, I think it stands well on its own. The first sounds to me like explanation, more Western, while the second paragraph strikes me as "Oriental", "just how things are."
